You have a BMR of:

No matter what you're doing, your body uses energy ... even when sleeping. If you didn't move your body at all (such as staying in bed all day), your body will still burn a certain amount of calories. This is called your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). You could call it your internal "engine". In fact, the MAJORITY of all the calories your body burns throughout the day is due to BMR ... not physical exercise. Your BMR is largely based on your body size (the more you weigh, the higher your BMR), and gender. Your BMR also decreases with age, unfortunately. This is why as you get older, it becomes harder to eat whatever you want and stay slim. There are ways to help increase BMR (such as exercise and increasing muscle)... but that's beyond the realm of this calculator.
